The Laboratory of Structural Biology of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology offers two open NCN funded positions for a PhD student and a Post-doc

Prof. Matthias Bochtler Laboratory is seeking for two collaborators, a PhD student and a Post-doc, to join the research team within the implemented grants funded by the National Science Centre. To learn more about the Laboratory’s research please visit http://www.iimcb.gov.pl/Bochtler-Laboratory-research-focus.html

Successful candidates will join research teams working on the following projects:

Mixed lineage leukemia (MLL) proteins:  The aim is to understand the mechanism of activation of MLL by leukemia related mutations, and to design inhibitors for the activated MLL protein. The project requires a PhD student or postdoc with experience in chemistry (solid phase synthesis) and/or biochemistry (protein expression, biochemical assays).

5-hydroxymethylcytosine in leukemias: The aim is to find and characterize proteins that interact with 5hmC and may play a role in leukemias. The work done on the project so far has led us to focus on the interface between DNA reprogramming by demethylation and the base excision repair pathway. This position would be suitable for a PhD student or postdoc with experience in biochemistry and genetics.

Candidates should send their CV and letter of motivation to This email address is being protected from spambots. In the first round, selected candidates will be asked to present their best research project so far, and will have an interview on this project (by Skype or in person). For the second round, candidates will receive the funded grant applications, and then have 2-3 weeks to prepare for an interview on the project and their possible role in the project. Thanking all applicants for their interest, we will contact only selected candidates.
