Project Manager

The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) is looking for a Project Manager to administer highly innovative research grant focused on mRNA in cancer immunotherapy.

IIMCB is a modern, leading research institute in Poland. It has recently been awarded a highly innovative project focused on mRNA in cancer immunotherapy, entitled: “Horizon for Excellence in messenger RNA applications in immunoOncology, acronym HERO”.

The project is financed from the Polish Science Fund in the form of the Virtual Research Institute by the Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development (PORT).  Coordinated by the IIMCB, HERO will involve three research groups from our Institute (led by A. Dziembowski  – Project Leader, M. Mi,aczynska Group and M. Nowotny) and will be performed in the consortium with the University of Warsaw, Medical University of Warsaw, and the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. We are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to ensure impeccable implementation of the project in administrative-formal-legal and merit-based aspects.

As a HERO Project Manager you will be responsible for:

  • overall management of the project, including administrative and formal aspects, ensuring timely preparation of progress and final merit-based reports, and other documents required by the PORT

  • monitoring of the HERO’s progress, including the timely achievements of indicators and milestones

  • organization of the work of the project’s Steering Committee, including organization of meetings, preparation of documents, taking minutes from SC meetings and distributing them among the SC members

  • managing changes in the project implementation

  • working contacts with the PORT, in any administrative, legal and financial aspect of the project

  • liaising between the project’s Leader, Steering Committee, Team Members and staff in the administrative units of all partners, regarding the status of the project, including expenditures and changes in cost estimates

  • active cooperation with the internal administrative units: Accounting, HR, PR, Science Coordination Unit, Tenders and other key administrative personnel

  • overseeing the project's finances, including managing the Consortium's expenditures in accordance with the project’s rules

  • preparing financial reports and payment requests for IIMCB and project partners to the Polish Science Fund

  • coordinating audits/inspections of any nature: financial, legal, merit-based

  • coordinating communication and information activities in the project

  • keeping record of all relevant documentation, updating and managing projects’ databases

You should:

  • have at least 3 years of professional experience in management of grants funded from external competitive sources, preferably in scientific environment

  • have understanding of legal aspects of grants management

  • have analytical skills and write with ease

  • be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

  • have excellent oral and written communication skills both in Polish and English (good written and spoken English is a must)

  • be precise, scrupulous and pay attention to details

  • have the sense of responsibility for assigned tasks and care for them

  • work autonomously after having received initial training and show initiative in performing all duties

We also appreciate if you:

  • have educational background in biology or related disciplines (PhD degree in life science fields will be an asset)

  • have understanding of IPR and Technology Transfer issues
