Warsaw-4-PhD inaugurated the 2026/2027 academic year
On October 5, 2026, the Warsaw PhD School in Natural and BioMedical Sciences (Warsaw-4-PhD) officially inaugurated the 2026/2027 academic year.
The ceremony brought together PhD students, supervisors, and representatives of the institutions forming Warsaw-4-PhD, including the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB).
A highlight of the programme was the inaugural lecture delivered by Prof. Krzysztof Sacha from Jagiellonian University, a laureate of the Foundation for Polish Science Prize recognised for formulating the theory of time crystals. The ceremony concluded with the Doctoral Oath taken by first-year PhD students.
IIMCB is one of nine research institutions that jointly run Warsaw-4-PhD, an interdisciplinary doctoral school providing education in four scientific disciplines: biology, chemistry, physics and medicine. The School has been operating since 2019.
The new academic year also marked the beginning of a new stage for PhD students joining IIMCB, where they will carry out research projects in the Institute’s laboratories under the supervision of IIMCB scientists.
We wish all new and continuing PhD students a successful academic year, inspiring discoveries and rewarding scientific work.
