Project Assumptions

The Research Infrastructure for Molecules and Cells (IN-MOL-CELL Infrastructure) will enhance the research and innovation potential of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, as well as deepen collaboration with businesses, through the expansion of research infrastructure and the improvement of the research staff's skills in managing the use of the resulting research infrastructure and technology transfer.

The project defines a single task: the purchase of scientific and research equipment, along with training and promotion. Four actions are planned:

Action 1: Equipping existing and new core facilities

This will focus on equipping or upgrading highly specialized equipment for:

1) Six existing core facilities at the Institute:

  • Preclinical Drug Development Facility
  • Genome Engineering Facility
  • Biophysics and Bioanalytics Facility
  • Zebrafish Facility
  • Rodent Facility
  • Microscopy Facility

2) Four new core facilities that will be established during the project:

  • Mass Spectrometry Facility
  • Cellular Models and Organoids Facility
  • Genomics Facility
  • Bioinformatics Facility

The expansion of research infrastructure will enable the Institute to use the latest advanced technologies for both research and development activities, as well as for commercial purposes.

Action 2: Training Component

The planned training for research staff, including personnel from the core facilities, will strengthen the quality of managing the newly acquired infrastructure. Action 2 will cover three areas: technology transfer and intellectual property, management of service laboratories and staff development, and highly specialized technical training.

Action 3: Project Promotion

To achieve the best possible results, the IIMCB plans a series of informational and promotional activities aimed at raising public awareness of the role and value of support from the European Union budget, ensuring transparency in public spending, and increasing interest in the research services provided by the core facilities funded by the National Recovery Plan.

Action 4: Project Management

This action will include multifaceted operational support related to project management during both the implementation and operation phases. This includes administrative and financial support, public procurement, assistance in organizing training and promotional activities, as well as reporting and maintaining contact with the supporting institution.
