IIMCB researchers among the world’s most influential scientists
Prof. Janusz Bujnicki and Dr. Vladimir Korzh from IIMCB have once again been included among the world’s most influential scientists, according to the latest global ranking prepared by a team led by Prof. John P.A. Ioannidis from Stanford University.
The database "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators", published by Elsevier and based on Scopus data, presents a standardized assessment of scientific impact across disciplines. This year’s edition includes over 100,000 scientists worldwide, including 1,412 from Poland, who either belong to the top 2% most-cited researchers in their field or exceed a global citation-quality threshold.
The ranking assesses both career-long impact and single-year research impact (citations from 2024). Both IIMCB scientists were recognized for their career-long contribution, and Prof. Janusz Bujnicki was additionally listed for his 2024 citations, highlighting the visibility of his recent research.
Prof. Janusz Bujnicki, Head of the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering, is internationally known for combining theoretical and experimental approaches to study macromolecular structures, most recently 3D structures of RNA molecules and their interactions. His group has developed widely used computational tools: metaservers for protein structure prediction, ModeRNA and SimRNA for RNA modeling, and databases related to nucleic acid metabolism, particularly MODOMICS.
Dr Vladimir Korzh is a Senior Researcher in the Laboratory of Neurodegeneration, which is led by Prof. Jacek Kuźnicki. He investigates the genetic and molecular mechanisms that underlie the development of the nervous system in zebrafish, with a particular focus on the regulation of these mechanisms during nervous system formation. His work on transgenesis in non-mammalian vertebrates and single-molecule imaging in vivo has led to significant improvements in research methodology.
