Prof. Jacek Jaworski elected Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences
Prof. Jacek Jaworski, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB), has been elected a Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS)
The decision was made during the General Assembly of PTBUN Members in Wrocław, where the election results were approved and the outgoing Board was granted discharge.

Prof. Jaworski joins a group of over 300 researchers distinguished by their outstanding scientific achievements and authority within the academic community. The official ceremony of conferring titles on the newly elected members took place on October 23, 2025, in Warsaw.
“Being elected a Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences is a great honor and responsibility. I am proud that my research on the molecular mechanisms of neuronal development has been recognized by the Academy,” said Prof. Jacek Jaworski.
“Over 20% of IIMCB employees come from abroad. As a PAS member, I would like to share this valuable experience to support organizational changes in PAS institutes and in Polish science that promote excellence, national and international scientific collaboration, and a healthy organizational culture that allows all employees to pursue their ambitions,” emphasized the newly appointed Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
As noted in the official PAS statement, the Academy actively participates in key scientific projects in Poland and worldwide, including those related to artificial intelligence, medicine, environmental protection, cybersecurity, and national development. The newly elected members are expected to strengthen this scientific and organizational potential.
