The Final Symposium on GRIEG Projects, which took place online on 17th September 2024, gave us an insights into two GRIEG projects funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021:
"Cellular adaptation to cold" (CellCOLD), led by Wojciech Pokrzywa, PhD, DSc Habil.
"The impact of cytoplasmic polyadenylation on local translation in neurons", led by Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski.
Wojciech Pokrzywa presented focus of his project - investigating the mechanisms of cold stress adaptation using C. elegans as a model organism. Natalia Gumińska, PhD presented the focus of the second project - understanding how cytoplasmic polyadenylation regulates neuronal functions related to memory and learning.
The progress and research achievements made under the GRIEG projects highlight the power of local and international collaboration, as the projects were implemented with a strong contribution from Polish partner at the University of Warsaw, and Norwegian partners located at the University of Oslo and the University of Bergen.
Key Achievements of both projects are:
9 peer-reviewed publications
20 presentations at international conferences
25 researchers supported in basic research
9 mentor-mentee relationships across both projects established
2 joint grant applications
