Postdoctoral Researcher in structural biology of RNA: focus on RNA modifications

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be involved in interdisciplinary experimental and computational analyses of RNA structure focused on mechanistic, structure-level understanding of how posttranscriptional modifications influence RNA folding and its ability to form alternative 3D structures.

This position is ideal for you if you have solid experience in experimental and/or theoretical analyses of RNA structure or in the analysis of RNA modifications, and if you enjoy combining techniques of integrative structural biology, including experimental structure determination and computational modeling. We are also interested in candidates with experience in related areas, who can contribute new techniques to be used in this project.

We offer:

• Full-time contract (“umowa o pracę”) for at least 18 months, with an intended extension depending on performance and applications for extramural funding. We are looking for applicants who can successfully apply for extramural grants or fellowships
• Gross monthly remuneration: 7350 PLN/month - 7600 PLN/month, net approx. 5800 PLN/month - 6000 PLN/month (the final monthly gross salary will be calculated individually during the employment process, taking into account the length of service) Additional bonuses such as the 13th salary after working for the Institute for six months in a given calendar year, or Christmas bonus may supplement this salary

We require:

• Ph.D. in any relevant area (e.g., biology, chemistry, etc.), defended no more than 7 years before the start of the contract (according to the rules of the funding agency). We may consider candidates who are going to defend the Ph.D. in a few months and would be willing to start working with us on a temporary position before joining as a postdoctoral researcher

• Significant background in at least one of these three areas:
  i) RNA molecular biology (including RNA sequencing by NGS-by based methods)
  ii) experimental structure determination of biological macromolecules
  iii) structural bioinformatics
  We will prefer candidates with experience in at least one of the following areas: nucleic acid structure, RNA modifications, biophysical techniques for analysis of macromolecular structures and interactions, methods for computational structure prediction and macromolecular simulations. We will strongly prefer candidates with multidisciplinary expertise
• Expertise and competence in designing and carrying out scientific experiments and in interpreting their results
• Experience in writing manuscripts for publication and in scientific presentations
• Proactive approach to achieving objectives, good interpersonal skills, collaborative and adaptive attitude
• Very good organizational skills, especially project and time management skills
• Very good command of English (written and oral communication) and presentation skills
