Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Laboratory of Cellular Genomics

The newly created Laboratory of Cellular Genomics at the International Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) https://www.iimcb.gov.pl/en/, Warsaw, headed by Dr. Aleksandra A Kołodziejczyk, seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a project that aims to (1) study the interaction between the microbiome and mushroom toxins and (2) understand physiology of liver damage due to mushroom toxin using single cell genomics approaches. We are looking for someone to start on 01.10.2023, but flexible. You will work on the project funded by NCN Sonata-18 grant 2022/47/D/NZ5/03438 entitled: “The role of gut-liver axis in Amanita species mushroom poisoning”. As a Postdoctoral Researcher you will be responsible for: performing and assessment of liver failure experiments. The project includes mouse models of liver failure, cell culture, single cell RNA sequencing and microbiology. You will be responsible for planning and conducting experiments, recording the experiments in electronic lab notebook, data analysis and regular reporting of the results.

Requirements:

  • Hold a PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Medicine or equivalent field. Candidates with degrees in other fields including Engineering, Computer science, Physics will also be considered if they have relevant experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • High motivation and proactive and collaborative attitude

Previous experience in one or more methods mentioned below is desirable (but not prerequisite):

  • Sequencing libraries generation (RNAseq, single cell genomics, metagenomics)
  • Cell culture (cell lines, organoids, CRISPR-based cell line modification techniques)
  • Microbiology (culturing bacterial isolates, phenotyping, working anaerobically, working with protozoa and fungi)
  • Working with mice
  • FACS, cell sorting
  • Metabolomics (HPLC, MS)
  • Bioinformatics, Data science (R, Python, analysis of sequencing data, analysis of metabolomics)

We offer:

  • Full employment contract initially for 6 months, with the extension up to 36 months
  • Gross monthly remuneration approx. 8800 PLN/month, net approx.  6750 PLN/month (the final monthly gross salary will be calculated individually during the employment process, taking into account the length of service). Additional bonuses such as the 13th salary after working for the Institute for six months in a given calendar year, or a Christmas bonus may supplement this salary.
