Genome Engineering Unit of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology is inviting applications for a SPECIALIST/SENIOR SPECIALIST RESPONSIBLE FOR PLASMID PREPARATION.
Genome Engineering Unit is one of the Core Facilities of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology. Core facilities play an integral role in the Institute’s infrastructure, providing access to state-of-the-art research equipment and services to support the daily work of researchers both from the Institute and from external entities. One of the key services provided by the Genome Engineering Unit is plasmid preparation. The selected candidate will become a part of the team and will be responsible for planning and performing plasmid cloning, and communication with users requesting cloning services.
As a Specialist/Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for:
· Accepting plasmid request from the users
· Planning the cloning strategy
· Preparation of plasmid maps
· Coordination of the plasmid preparation work-flow, including work in the wet lab (PCR reactions, cloning, plasmid isolation, sample preparation for sequencing)
· Analysis of sequencing results
· Keeping the plasmid databases
· Cloning cost accounting
Requirements for the candidate:
· Practical knowledge of plasmid preparation methods – required
· Practical knowledge of the SLIC method will be an advantage
· Experience in DNA chromatogram analysis
· Snap Gene program knowledge will be an advantage
· Holds a BSc or MSc degree in biology, biotechnology or a related field
· English language skills allowing to communicate freely in an international environment
· Very good written and oral communication,
· Very good organization of work, ability to set priorities,
· Ability to think analytically and strategically,
· Ability to work under time pressure,
· Independence, commitment, and initiative in action,
· High personal culture
We offer:
· Replacement employment contract, expected contract duration is 1.5 years
· Remuneration of 6000-7600 PLN per month (before taxes, net salary app. 4400-5500 PLN per month)
