Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Laboratory of Protein Metabolism
Laboratory of Protein Metabolism https://bit.ly/3gv0tLU at the International Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Dr. Wojciech Pokrzywa, seeks a productive, creative, and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a project that aims to dissect the mechanisms underlying non-lysine ubiquitination. The position is funded by National Science Centre under the SONATA-BIS project no. 2021/42/E/NZ1/00190 entitled: “Adaptation of Proteins to Evade Premature Degradation by the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System”.
The ideal candidate should be able to pursue challenging tasks and achieve objectives and collaborate with other researchers. As a Postdoctoral Researcher: you will be responsible for developing methods to detect non-lysine ubiquitination and study its physiological role. The project will use molecular biology approaches, cell culture, mass spectrometry, and imaging techniques. You will be responsible for planning and conducting experiments, data analysis, and project development. You will also assist in coordinating daily activities and supervising students. Preference will be given to an individual who can work independently, write manuscripts and scientific reports, and have expertise most relevant to the project and our laboratory.
Requirements for the candidate:
- Hold a doctoral degree/Ph.D. in Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biophysics

- Strong publication record
- Experience with cell cultures or model organisms will be an advantage
- Experience in molecular biology and biochemical techniques
- Experience in computational data analysis will be an advantage
- Expertise and competence in designing and carrying out scientific experiments and in interpreting their results
- High motivation, analytical skills, and independent thinking. A proactive approach to achieving objectives, collaborative and adaptive attitude
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
We offer:
- Full employment contract for 60 months
- Gross monthly remuneration is about 7600 PLN* (about 6000 PLN net/month) (the final monthly gross salary will be calculated individually during the employment process, taking into account the length of service. Possible additional remuneration will depend on the candidates' experience - approx. PLN 2 000 gross). Additional bonuses such as the 13th salary after working for the Institute for six months in a given calendar year, or a Christmas bonus may supplement this salary.
