 Junior Research Specialist (civil – law contract) in the Laboratory of Single-Molecule Biophysics

The newly created Laboratory of Single-Molecule Biophysics at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw headed by Ewelina Małecka, PhD is inviting applications for a Junior Research Specialist.

We especially welcome applications from fifth-year MSc students or candidates who have already completed their studies and would like to continue their scientific path and start education at the Doctoral School in the future.

As a Junior Research Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing RNA, testing RNA-protein interactions in vitro, and analyzing data from single-molecule experiments. You will be participating in setting up a single-molecule lab!

Laboratory of Single-Molecule Biophysics:

Dr. Ewelina Małecka is an expert in single-molecule microscopy – a cutting-edge methodology used to study the assembly of single complexes or monitor structural rearrangements within single copies of RNAs or proteins. The laboratory of Single-Molecule Biophysics will be working on understanding molecular mechanisms behind RNA decay in bacteria.

Requirements for the candidate:

  1. Holds a BSc or MSc degree in biology, biotechnology or related field.
  2. Solid knowledge of the principles of molecular biology and/or biochemistry.
  3. Hands-on experience in laboratory work.
  4. Previous experience in working with RNA, protein purification or microscopy techniques will be an advantage.
  5. Keen interest in studying RNA/protein interactions.
  6. Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  7. Willingness to learn and take on new challenges, ability to work independently and analytical thinking.
  8. Good interpersonal skills and a team player.

  1. Civil-law contract till start of Doctoral School (October 2023).
  2. Competitive salary (net 3500 pln/month. After successful recruitment to Doctoral School: net 4500 pln/month).
