EMBO Reports published a review article by scientists from the consortium coordinated by prof. Jörg Höhfeld, participating in the project "Mechanical Stress Protection", entitled: "Maintaining proteostasis under mechanical stress".

Since 2018, the Laboratory of Protein Metabolism, headed by Dr. Wojciech Pokrzywa is a part of the consortium. The project is investigating the processes involved in removing and regenerating mechanically damaged proteins, and the role of these mechanisms in diseases such as muscle weakness, immunodeficiency and kidney failure.

The group has received almost three million euros for research from the German Research Foundation (DFG) so far. In July this year, the DFG decided to extend the financing of the project and the consortium of prof. J. Höhfeld received funds for the next 3 years of research.
