April 20, 2021. We had the pleasure to host the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB). The visit was related to the planned announcement of a competition organized by the Medical Research Agency (ABM) for funding of R&D projects focused on RNA technology for drug development. This competition will aim to accelerate the implementation of innovative RNA-based therapies (including the production of vaccines based on mRNA technology) and making them available to patients in Poland. The Polish government allocated funds in the amount of PLN 300 million for the implementation of such projects and the Medical Research Agency was entrusted with the coordination of the project competition.
The press conference, announcing the competition, was preceded by a short meeting of the Prime Minister with the IIMCB Director Prof. Marta Miączyńska, Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski (head of the Laboratory of RNA Biology) and Prof. Gracjan Michlewski (head of the Laboratory of RNA Protein Interactions). The meeting has been an opportunity to present the Prime Minister with the activities of the Institute and our research on RNA.
