On the beginning of 2020, IIMCB has become the first Polish member of the EU-LIFE consortium - alliance composed of the leading research centers in life sciences from Europe. Unfortunately, 2020 turned out into a landmark year which tested us in many areas and becomes a major challenge for citizens and organizations from all over the world, EU-LIFE members among them.
Within EU-LIFE, a new task force focusing on COVID-19 responses (diagnosis, research and institutional organization) was initiated to help EU-LIFE members to tackle the needs of citizens, health sector and researchers through exchange of knowledge and practices.
Based on the lessons learned by COVID-19 pandemics and bearing in mind about general health safety, EU-LIFE announced a long-term vision on how Europe can prepare for future health crisis. Despite the COVID-19 dominated over almost the activities the consortium was also involved in EU research and innovation policy throughout the year, such us EU negotiations on the multi-annual financial framework 2021-2027 or the Brexit deal.
Among the internal consortium's tasks, most of the planned activities were successfully implemented, including introducing two new EU-LIFE members (IIMCB and IMBB-FORTH in Greece) and joint projects through the EU-LIFE working groups.
