The International Young Scientists Conference on Molecular and Cell Biology 2021 is behind us. Although it could only be held online in the era of pandemic and restrictions, it turned out to be a great success!
The aim of the conference was to create opportunities for aspiring scientists to present their research and scientific experiences, and its agenda included lectures by invited speakers, presentations of selected candidates and poster session. Additionally, as part of the conference, mentoring sessions were held, during which participants could talk in a less formal atmosphere with eminent scientists.
The special guests were outstanding scientists from around the world, who gave lectures starting each of the 5 thematic sessions:

Cell Biology - prof. Anne Bertolotti (MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge)

Structural Biology - prof. Patrick Cramer (Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen )

Methods & Trends in Biology - prof. Noam Kaplan (Technion Israel Institute of Technology)

Cancer, Ageing & Diseases - prof. Christophe Lamaze (The Institut Curie, France)

Development & Stem Cell Biology - dr Kaska Koltowska (Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology in Uppsala University, Sweden).
The conference was attended by 218 people from Belarus, Germany, Lithuania, Finland, Ireland, Austria, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine and Poland. There were 26 lectures, 20 mentoring meetings and 104 presentations in the poster session.
The undoubted attraction for the participants was the possibility of voting and choosing the best lecture in each thematic category and the best poster session. The results were announced at the end of the conference, and the winners included the following:

Katarzyna Kuźmicz-Kowalska, lecture: "Regulation of neural progenitor survival by the morphogens Shh and BMP" (session: Development & Stem Cell Biology).
