We are pleased to announce that the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) held the rotating presidency of the Ochota Biocentre in Warsaw. On 6th October, the outgoing Chairman of the Biocentre, prof. Tadeusz Burczyński handed the director of IIMCB, Mrs. Marta Miączyńska a golden owl statuette – a symbol of the presidency in the Biocentre. The IIMCB presidency will last until October 2021.

The Consortium was founded in 2008 on the initiative of 6 research institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and include the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS, Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering PAS, Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research PAS, Mossakowski Medical Research Centre PAS and the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw.

The activities of the Biocentre are supervised by the Board of Directors. Directors of each membership Institute holds a rotating function of the President of the Board of Directors of the Consortium.

The main task of Ochota Biocentre is combining the research potential for conducting large-scale research projects beyond the capability of individual members.
