It is with deep regret that we have learnt that Professor Lech Wojtczak had passed away.

Prof. Lech Wojtczak was a biochemist, who has worked at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS since 1947. He made a number of important discoveries in the field of mitochondrial biology and cellular energetics. He was a mentor for a few generations of students who continued his work. He received many awards and distinctions for his studies and achievements.

The directors and employees of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw express their sincere condolences to his family, the management and coworkers at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS.
