The 2nd International FishMed Conference on Zebrafish Research (FishMed2018) was held on March 25-27, 2018. IIMCB organized this event to share the most recent knowledge and developments in zebrafish research. The program included keynote lectures by Wiebke Herzog (Germany) and Randall Peterson (USA), plenary talks by invited speakers, short oral presentations given by PhD students and postdocs, poster sessions, and extensive time for discussions. The special focus of the conference were early stage researchers, for whom dedicated competitive sessions called Young FishMed had been designed. Thus, 14 early stage researchers who according the Scientific Committee submitted the best abstracts had been invited to give talks presenting their research. Out of 93 posters presented, two were distinguished by Poster Awards: posters presented by Elisa Lidron (Italy) and Gloria Casas Gemeno (The Netherlands). The conference gathered more than 200 participants from 22 countries, including a number of Polish scientists who are more and more interested in using zebrafish as a research model in various aspects of their work. The conference was also a good occasion to promote the “Be Healthy as a Fish“ educational campaign with the help of enthisiastic primary school children. More information including Abstract Book can be found at fishmed2018.pl.
