On November 24, 2016 Prof. Agnieszka Chacińska, Head of the Laboratory of Mitochondrial Biogenesis was honored with the Prime Minister's Award for outstanding scientific achievements. [nbsp]During the ceremony, Dr. Jarosław Gowin, Minister of Science and Higher Education on behalf of Beata Szydło, Prime Minister handed the certifications of awards to 44 scientists. Those honored included the most outstanding researchers in their fields, discoverers of new technologies and authors of significant theories and scientific papers.
The Prime Minister’s Awards for achievements in science, technology, art and doctoral and post-doctoral dissertations are awarded annually. The idea of the award was created in the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1994. They are presented for: scientific or artistic accomplishments, including extraordinary scientific or artistic lifetime achievements, highly valued achievements based on which the degree of a habilitated doctor of science or a habilitated doctor of arts are awarded, distinguished doctoral thesis, scientific and technical achievements.
