Dr. Małgorzata Mossakowska - founder of the J-Elita Society and its longtime president – has been recognized for her work with people suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. During the Gala ceremony of the St. Camilllus Awards, held on Febuary 8th 2016, on the occasion of the World Day of the Sick, she received a distinction in the field of health professionals passionately pursuing their mission for the benefit of the patients. She has been awarded for her “exceptional intuition and life wisdom in marking the way for people struggling with the toughest opponent: the disease of one’s children. For using the most effective weapons for this purpose: empathy, love and knowledge”.
The St. Camillus award – the patron saint of the sick and of health care workers, was established in 2007 on the initiative of the Camillians Order, Ministers to the Sick, and the Institute for Patients' Rights and Health Education. Every year it is granted in a different area of medicine.
“The main idea of this award is to promote people and institutions that have made an outstanding contribution to building a culture of mercy, acceptance and solidarity with sick people and their families,” explains priest Dr. Arkadiusz Nowak, the inventor of the awards and the Provincial of the Camillians Order, Ministers to the Sick, as well as the social advisor to the Childrens’ Rights Advocate.
