Dr. Cecilia Lanny Winata, Head of Laboratory of Zebrafish Developmental Genomics, Max Planck/IIMCB Research Group have been awarded grant of 955 500 PLN under science panel NZ2 for the project "Elucidating the gene regulatory network of zebrafish heart development using genomics". Whereas Prof. Matthias Bochtler, Head of Laboratory of Structural Biology received funding [nbsp]of 1 283[nbsp]750 under science panel NZ1 for the project "New 5-hydroxymethylcytosine binding proteins".

OPUS calls are open to all researchers, regardless of their research experience. The funding from the NCN may help finance different types of research activity: the purchase of equipment, employment of co-investigators, research expeditions etc.

In the seventh edition of the OPUS calls, as many as 362 research projects across all three research domains (Arts, Humanities [&] Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences [&] Engineering) received aggregate funding of over € 50 million.
