On 30 October 2013, President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski presented professorial appointments for 68 academic teachers, employees of science and art. One of the nominees is Marta Miączyńska, Head of the Laboratory of Cell Biology.
The ceremony was attended by First Lady Anna Komorowska, the Head of the National Security Bureau Stanisław Goat, Minister Maciej Klimczak and Advisors to the President of Poland Jerzy Smoliński and Christopher King. Bronisław Komorowski emphasized that the moment of handing the professorial appointment is the crowning achievements of life.
Pursuant to Article 25 of the Act on Academic Degrees and Academic Title and the degrees and ranks in Art, the President of the Republic of Poland shall award the professor degrees to the employees of the art and science as well as academic teachers. The application for title to be awarded is made by the Central Committee for Degrees and Titles and the decision on the award of the professor title is taken by the President of the Republic of Poland by order. The individual acts conferring the subject professor title are received by professors from the President.
