On January 9th, 2013 in the Collegium Maius of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow Prof. Maciej Żylicz received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa for significant scientific achievements.
Professor Żylicz was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa for his contribution to the development of biochemistry and molecular biology, especially for his research on molecular biology of heat shock proteins and their role in cancer transformation.
The title was also awarded in recognition of Prof Żylicz’s major contribution to building the prestige of Polish science in the country and in the world, his invaluable work in the Committee for Scientific Research and the Foundation for Polish Science, and also for his involvement in the improvement of higher education and the promotion of the good name of Poland and Polish academic centers.
