The decision of the Minister of Education and Science (MEiN) to grant the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw an A+ category in the discipline of biological sciences was made as a result of the evaluation of the quality of IIMCB's scientific activity in 2017-2021, carried out by the Commission for the Evaluation of Science, as an advisory body to the MEiN.

The basic criteria of the evaluation were:

- the scientific level of the activities carried out, including the publication achievements of the Institute's scientific staff and the patents granted for inventions;

- financial effects of scientific research and development work, such as commercialization of research results and research services ;

- the impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy, in which the Institute's contribution to research on tuberous sclerosis in children and to the development of innovative diagnostic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases was positively evaluated.

Independent experts confirmed that the results of this research translated directly into activities implemented at clinical centers.
