Key decisions for the future of EU-LIFE taken in Warsaw
This year’s EU-LIFE Strategy Meeting was held on November 22-23, 2023 at the IIMCB. The many topics covered included European Research & Innovation policy, expansion of the EU-LIFE membership, evolution of EU-LIFE benchmarking of research institutes’ performance and activities for 2024 according to the current EU-LIFE strategic plan.
Main representatives had a session on research culture with invited speaker Rosalind Attenborough, Research Culture & Communities Specialist at the Wellcome Trust. On the other hand, an interactive session was organized for the Board of Directors with the aim to discuss the specific challenges of scientific directors, including how to be resilient to insecure funding and how to manage space in research performance organizations.
All participants had the chance to attend scientific talks on cutting-edge projects by the IIMCB’s researchers Aleksandra Kołodziejczyk, Head of the Laboratory of Cellular Genomics, and Jacek Jaworski, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular & Cellular Neurobiology and Deputy Director for Science.
EU-LIFE is an alliance of independent research institutes whose mission is to support and strengthen European research excellence. EU-LIFE members include leading research institutes that are internationally renowned for producing excellent research, widely transferring knowledge, and nurturing talent. Since its founding in 2013, EU-LIFE has become a stakeholder in science policy development. The IIMCB became the first Polish member of the EULIFE alliance in 2020.
