The COMBIOM Initial Scientific Meeting took place in Kiev, Ukraine, on May, 16th-17th. Organized by IMBG, it involved COMBIOM participants from partnering bodies: Institute Gustave Roussy, Paris, France and IIMCB. In March the cooperation agreement between our Institute and the Max-Planck Society (MPG) has been finalized and signed by Prof. Peter Gruss, President and Dr. Ludwig Kronthaler, Secretary General of MPG and by Prof. Jacek Kuźnicki, Director and Prof. Michał Witt, Scientific Director of IIMCB

Stanislaw Dunin-Horkawicz, Katarzyna Misztal, Irina Tuszyńska, Małgorzata Figiel and Maria Werner were awarded with stipends for young researchers given by Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) under the START Programme.

HEALTH‑PROT Workshop „Summary of scientific results of the project and domestic actions beyond” 26 March 2012, Sopot, Poland

Prof. Jacek Kuźnicki, Dr hab. Marta Miączyńska and Prof. Matthias Bochtler received funding under the Maestro program from National Science Centre.

Professor Janusz M. Bujnicki from Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering was elected a member of the Young Scientists Academy (Akademia Młodych Uczonych), an appendix to the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

On January 1st 2012, IIMCB initiated a joint Polish-Swiss research project coordinated by Dr. Marta Miączyńska and supported by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union.

Dr. Marcin Nowotny, Head of Laboratory of Protein Structure, is one of 28 laureates of prestigious International Early Career (IECS) award granted by Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Since December 2011 IIMCB participates in the COMBIOM project titled „Strengthening Cooperation in Molecular Biomedicine between EU and Ukraine”, supported by FP7 under activity Integrating Europe's neighbours into the ERA (ERA-WIDE).
