The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology has acquired Lightsheet Z.1, state-of-the-art fluorescence microscope. It works on the principle of single-plane illumination microscopy (SPIM). Lightsheet Z.1 has been bought from the funds provided by the FishMed project. It is the first such a microscope in Poland.

President of the Republic of Poland has just signed the changes in the Public Procurement Law. The purpose of the amendment to the Act is to help eliminate barriers to growth in innovation and research in Poland. Scientists from IIMCB were first who took photographs symbolizing the limitations of the Public Procurement Law.

On April 1, 2014 President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski presented professorial appointments for 35 academic teachers, employees of science and art. One of the nominees was Jacek Jaworski, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology.
On April 4-5 2014, IIMCB is hosting a meeting of the Life, Environmental and Geo Sciences (LEGS) panel of Science Europe, an association of European Research Funding Organisations and Research Performing Organisations, based in Brussels.
On April 9, 2014 Prof. Michał Witt, Deputy Scientific Director participated in an Experts’ Seminar on Legislative Solutions in the Field of Bioethics.
Dr. Agnieszka Chacinska, Leader of the Laboratory of Mitochondrial Biogenesis, was distinguished by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education with a prestigious grant of 3 156 000 PLN within the “Ideas Plus” Program.
The Minister of Science and Higher Education Prof. Lena Kolarska-Bobińska has appointed a new Scientific Policy Committee. Prof. Janusz M. Bujnicki, Head of the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering is one of the new members.
On May 5, 2014 IIMCB will host Prof. Venki Ramakrishnan from the Structural Studies Division, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK.
