About the project:

Mus musculus is an organism of choice for functional studies relevant to human health. Surprisingly, there is currently no facility that would routinely generate mouse models by gene targeting approaches in Poland. The aim of this proposal is to create a core facility for this very purpose, to supply the scientific community with quickly generated transgenic animal model. We are convinced that such a facility will foster the usage of new mouse models in biomedical research in Poland. Furthermore, within the framework of this proposal, we plan to improve the CRISPR methodology and generate new animal models for human genetic diseases. The project is divided into three parts: 1) Further implementation and development of the CRISPR methodology. 2) Generation of novel mouse models of human genetic diseases. 3) Development of the core facility.

This project is carried out within the TEAM programme of the Foundation for Polish Science co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund.
